Bain and Hellman & Friedman battling to acquire DocuSign

Private equity firms Bain Capital and Hellman & Friedman are in competition over a deal to acquire DocuSign, a provider of online signature services valued at around $12.5bn, according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as confirming that the rival firms are among the the final bidders in the auction for DocuSign, which is shaping up to be one of the largest leveraged buyouts of the year.

According to Reuters’ sources, while the investment firms are currently bidding against each other they may yet team up to clinch a joint deal for the business, with a final decision expected in the next few weeks.

Another buyout firm, Blackstone, also held talks about acquiring DocuSign, but has now reportedly dropped out of the running.
